About the Producer
|
For more than 500 years, the Mellot family has maintained a reputation for classic, terroir-driven wines. Company president Catherine Corbeau-Mellot grew up in a winemaking family, and when her husband passed suddenly in 2005, she stepped up to manage both the family and estate. Their 25-year-old son Adrien has now finished his wine studies and has taken on overseeing the vineyards. The entire team are dedicated to bring forward the essence of their terroirs through practices in the vineyard and the winery. They are respected for their principled and sustainable vineyard practices, and the wines of Joseph Mellot showcase the region’s best characters. This family is one of the longest-standing partners of Jones & Company.

| Sylvia Jansen "The 2011 Pouilly Fumè from Joseph Mellot is a great white that calls for food--think about a dish of spring asparagus, or goat cheese grilled with an almond crust, chicken with a creamy sauce, or salmon, smoked or grilled, and this wine will shine! -SJ" | | Gary Hewitt "Ripe, lemony, pungent and faintly vegetal with fresh acidity and pronounced intensity. Ripe style Sauv Blanc for Central Loire--intriguing food pairing, lots of options but I'm thinking mushy peas--ha!--with cooked ham:) Balanced and fresh but best to drink while still a young wine. Very good. (2016 tasted 5 March 2018)" |
