While this award-winning winery was officially launched in 1997 when Kevin Mitchell returned to his home area as an enology graduate, the Kilikanoon story began much earlier. Kevin’s father, Mort Mitchell, was a well-respected grape grower in the Clare Valley for many years, and nurtured in his son both a love of the land and a deep understanding of terroir. The heart of Kilikanoon’s vineyards include old-vine Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Riesling vines that were planted by Mort in the 1960s. Meticulously selecting and purchasing vineyard property, and working with other quality growers, Kevin has progressed to establish an enviable reputation for expressive, authentic wines. Kilikanoon wines have received multiple accolades in Australia and internationally.
