About the Producer
An iconic estate in the south Okanagan Valley, Blue Mountain has produced wines from their estate vineyards since 1991. Jane and Ian Mavety were leaders in establishing French grape varieties in the region and have continued to improve on their successes. Their son Matt has joined the family enterprise, working in the vineyard and the winery, and daughter Christie works in marketing and management. Vineyards are sustainably farmed, using diverse cover crops, on-farm composting, and a lot of hand work. The 31-hectare estate produces limited quantities of sought-after wines, notably from Burgundian and Alsatian varieties.
Reviews & Notes
Mike Muirhead
"I heart Pinot Gris - and this is my new favourite. Pinot Gris is the more full and rich style of Pinot Grigio, and this one does not disappoint. Unctuous and rich with fresh green melon, fresh mango, apricot and a lush mouth feel. Very well balanced, and a great example of what Canada can do with Pinot Gris"
Sylvia Jansen
"Complex and rich, with beautiful weight and mouthfeel, super food-friendly--not a simple patio Pinot Grigio. Blue Mountain's Pinot Gris is sustainably grown and wild yeast fermented--worth a savoury cheese board or a wide variety of dishes."
Gary Hewitt
"Developing, medium body wine with typical Pinot Gris characters of apple-pear-plum-melon fruits tinged with a faint earty-white mushroom note and a trace of citrus bitterness in the finish. Food friendly with round mid palate and enough freshness to pair nicely with chicken, veal or rich fish with lemon and a cream sauce or more! Likely to improve for a year or two. Very good. 2017 tasted 22 May 2019."
