About the Producer
With sincere care and respect for vineyard and for the entire wine production, the young owners of Zorzal are among those transforming the Spanish wine scene. They produce wines that reflect their terroirs (rather than strictly following Spanish ageing regimens) from organic production, with low intervention in the winery. The bird images on labels are as purposeful as they are edgy and whimsical. They reflect the winery name (“Zorzal” is the thrush that visits the vineyards); they honour their founder Antonio Sanz, who invested in their Navarra vineyards in the 1980s to begin the family tradition for wine production, making the thrush the winery trademark; and the edgy images inside the bird outline give a glimpse into the new ways.
Reviews & Notes
Sylvia Jansen
"Old vine Grenache from a single vineyard: complex, black fruit, savoury spice, an earthy edge, ripe tannins, long finish. Enjoy with winter stews."

"Malayeto is Vina Zorzal's first "terroir" wine. It's from a 35-year-old, 2.4-hectare Garnacha vineyard in Navarra of northern Spain. Juicy, bright and alive with pure cherry and raspberry fruits, fine ripe tannins, and a touch of dry-climate herbs. Balanced to age mid-term but so attractive right now. Serve slightly cool and drink in gulps. Ole! Very Good. (2015 tasted 22 Feb 2018)"
