About the Producer
|
The small estate of La Dama seems steeped in the long history of Valpolicella. Some of their vineyards are 50 years old; they cultivate historic grape varieties and hold firmly to values of organic farming and production, wild yeast fermentation and open-air drying for the fruit destined for Amarone and Recioto wines. At the same time, La Dama is a new project of a new generation. Gabriele and Miriam Dalcanale met in university in Padua, and found they shared a dream to produce great Valpolicella wines. With their families’ support, they have built a team that has brought La Dama into a well-respected group of small producers in the region.

| Todd Antonation "Extremely light almost rose like in colour. Soft, smooth mouthfeel with bright, fresh red fruit characteristics that begs for another sip. Pair with a hamburger or crush it by itself." | | Gary Hewitt "Unafraid to be traditional! Pale red, almost rosé in depth, lightly perfumed with fresh cherry/berry fruits, light ripe tannins, round mid-palate (like biting into a grape) and a surprisingly persistent finish. Serve slightly chilled. Impeccable wine-making based on the traditionally light Valpolicella style. Organic grapes and winemaking. No oak. Gulpable. Excellent. (2017 tasted 30 Sept 2018)" |
